KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Number of individuals applying for a new driving license has exceeded 500,000. Service recipients filled up forms through transport management offices across the country.

The government had suspended new applications for driving license since mid-March last year due to the COVID-19 fear. The transport department’s information officer Dr. Loknath Bhusal said the number is high as the application process for the license was suspended for 10 months.

He further said that arrangement has been made in a way to enable applicants to register their applications 24 hours and seven days. “The service recipients can submit an application for license at any time”.

Earlier, the Department had opened up online registration only for a certain time. It was difficult for the service recipients to fill up the forms at once due to over subscription.

Spokesperson Bhusal shared that trouble in submitting applications has been resolved.

The application for a new driving license was opened up in mid-December 2020 in coordination between the office under the provincial government and the Transport Department under the federal government. (with inputs from RSS)
