Armed Indian police personnel sent back after entering Nepal without permission

MAKWANPUR, May 26: A group of armed Indian police personnel who entered Nepal in uniform without seeking permission from the concerned authorities were sent back to their country by Nepal Police on Saturday.


The Indian police team which had reached as far as Hetauda of Makwanpur district, reportedly to pay homage to Bhuwaneshwar (Pashupatinath) Temple, was sent back to Raxaul of India.

The locals of Hetauda had immediately informed Nepal Police about the Indian security personnel with weapons in their locality on Saturday morning. After visiting the temple, the police personnel were staying at a local guest house when Nepal Police apprehended them.


Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the District Police Office (DPO), Makwanpur, informed Republica that the Indian police personnel were taken under control from Pashupati area in Hetauda-4.


"Around half a dozen Indian police personnel were taken under control from Hetauda," said DSP Bhattarai, adding, "We took them in our van and handed them over to Birgunj Police in the border. They have now been sent back to India."


They reportedly ventured to Hetauda after finding in Google map that the city was only 50 kilometers from Bihar of India.


A local representative has demanded action against those security personnel for entering Nepal without permission.
