KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Departmental team Tribhuvan Army and Dipsan Foods Japan have cruised to the final of the Nayabazar Cup Open men's volleyball tournament on Friday.
In the first semifinal match held at a town-planning area in Nayabazar, Army defeated departmental rival Armed Police Force in straight sets of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-23 to secure the final spot.
Army, Dipsan Foods cruise into final
Army will face Dipsan Foods Japan in the final clash on Saturday after Dipsan Foods advanced with win over defending champion Nepal Police Club in straight sets of 25-18, 33-31, and 25-19.
With this defeat, last edition's title holder Nepal Police has been eliminated from the tournament. Police, which was unbeaten in the group stage, had advanced to the semifinal as Group A winner.
Finalist Army also had booked its place in the last four as Group B winner remaining unbeaten while Dipson had entered the last four from the same group as group runner-up.
The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 175,111 while the runner-up and third placed team will bag Rs 90, 111 and Rs 51, 111 respectively. Similarly the team finishing fourth will get Rs 25, 111.
