Army, Sankata to vie for Tilottama title

BUTWAL, March 2: Tribhuvan Army Club is set to take on CMG Club Sankata in the summit clash of the ongoing 19th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament on Saturday after the departmental side booked a place in the final.

BUTWAL, March 2: Tribhuvan Army Club is set to take on CMG Club Sankata in the summit clash of the ongoing 19th Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament on Saturday after the departmental side booked a place in the final. 



In the second semifinal clash played on Thursday, Army registered a 4-2 win over home team Rupandehi XI in penalty shootout. Similarly, another finalist Sankata had defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club 2-1 on Wednesday. 



Thursday's match played at ANFA Technical Center, Butwal, was pushed to the penalty shootout after it ended in a goalless draw in the regulation time and added extra 20 minutes. 



Hiranya Magar, Raju Tamang, Bibek Basnet and Deep Lama all successfully converted penalties for Army while Saurabh Magar and Uttam Gurung were the only players to score for Rupandehi XI. The home team's Samson's shot was saved by Army's goalie Sushil Srivastav while M Gyabola's shot went wide.
