Army wins four golds in paragliding

POKHARA, April 23: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club continued its ascendency in the ongoing Eighth National Games, winning four gold medals in paragliding event held in Pokhara on Monday.

POKHARA, April 23: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club continued its ascendency in the ongoing Eighth National Games, winning four gold medals in paragliding event held in Pokhara on Monday.


Army won three gold medals in men’s category and one in women’s category on its debut participation in the national level paragliding event. Similarly, Gandaki Province secured two gold medals, one each in both categories.

Army won gold medals in Team Accuracy, Individual Accuracy and Individual Cross-country in men’s category. It also secured gold in Individual Accuracy in women’s category. 


General Secretary of Nepal Paragliding and Hang-gliding Association Shailendra Rawat confirmed that Army has won most medals in paragliding adding four silver medals to its gold tally. 


Likewise, Gandaki added one silver and four bronze medals to finish second on the leaders-board. Province 1 secured a silver and bronze medal each followed by Province 3’s one bronze medal.


The pilots took a flight from Sarangkot to Khapaudi Fewa Taal for the event. Apart from Army club and Gandaki, Province 1, Province 3, Karnali and Sudur Paschim participated in the event. A total of 51 men and 10 women participated in the event.
