Art competition ‘Kalatsav’ to celebrate World Environment Day

KATHMANDU, June 2:  The Rotaract Club of Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Madhyapur, Interact Club of Kathmandu, and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) , is set to host ‘Kalatsav’, an art competition to mark World Environment Day.

KATHMANDU, June 2:  The Rotaract Club of Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Madhyapur, Interact Club of Kathmandu, and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) , is set to host ‘Kalatsav’, an art competition to mark World Environment Day.


Scheduled for June 5, 2024, at Rotary Hall, Thapathali, the event will spotlight the theme "Our Land, Our Future." The competition invites students from grades 7 to 10 from community-based schools to creatively address environmental issues such as land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience through their artwork.

Participants should arrive by 10:00 AM, with the competition running from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. While A3 size paper will be provided, participants must bring their own painting supplies. The entries will be evaluated in three categories: Conceptual, Composition, and Creativity.


Winners will receive trophies, certificates, and art-related gift hampers, while all participants will be awarded certificates and enjoy a complimentary lunch.


"We are thrilled to host Kalatsav, which not only celebrates the artistic talents of our youth but also emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation," said Ajay Yadav, president of Rotaract Club of Kathmandu.
