KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Nepal has entered the semifinals of women's kabaddi under the 19th Asian Games. After entering the semi-finals, it is certain that Nepal will get at least one medal in Kabaddi in the 19th Asian Games.
As part of the ongoing tournament in Hangzhou, China, Iran defeated Bangladesh 54-16 in the match that ended a while ago, and Nepal entered the semi-finals as the runner-up of Group B. By entering the semi-finals, Nepal is certain to get at least one bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Games. In Kabaddi, there is a provision that all the four teams that reach the semi-finals get medals.
19th Asian Games: Nepal secures first medal
For women's kabaddi, Nepal participated in the Asian Games for the first time. "We have succeeded in getting a medal for our country in the first participation," said Bishnudatta Bhatt, coach of the Nepali women's kabaddi team, while talking to RSS from Hangzhou, China. He said that he will not be limited to the bronze medal by performing well in the semi-finals as well.
Iran and Bangladesh were in Group B with Nepal. Iran has entered the semi-finals of the tournament as the winner of Group B. Nepal defeated Bangladesh 37-24 in the first match on Monday and lost to Iran 19-43 in the second match on Tuesday. Bangladesh, which lost to Nepal and Iran, is out of the competition. Iran also won the gold medal in women's kabaddi at the 18th Asian Games.
Similarly, India, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and South Korea are in group 'A' for women's kabaddi. Nepal will now play the semi-final against the winner of Group A.
