ILAM, July 13: Police have claimed that they have arrested the clurpit behid the murder of an office assistant employed at the Biratnagar High Court. The detainee has been identified to be 34-year-old Yuvraj Baniya, who is himself an assistant sub inspector of police.
Baniya, who worked as a security guard for the chief judge at the high court, strangled the female employee to death.
The dead body of 48-year-old Bimala Devi Niraula (Parajuli) was found on the court’s premises on Monday at 7AM.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of the district, Mahendra Kumar Shrestha, Baniya has confessed to his crime during police investigation. “The culprit has confessed to his crime and has also revealed that he murdered Niraoula by strangling her to death,” Shrestha said in a press statement. “Although, the culprit has confessed to the murder, he said that he did not rape her. We do not believe his statement,” he added.
“The detainee used to be a police officer but it is not necessary to disclose his rank following the incident,” Shrestha said. The report from the hospital will tell if the female employee was raped before the murder or not.
The body of the female employee was found with her trousers pulled down to her knees and with some injuries.
The police arrested the clurpit at around 10AM today after questioning him. He was arrested based on the call details and facebook chats with the female employee. However, the details of his arrest were not made public.
The incident was investigated with the help of trained police dogs yesterday. The High Court is kept under a 24 hours surveillance from the police as well as a team of Nepal Army. In addition, the District Administration Office and the District Police Office are within a distance of almost 100 meters from the scene of the incident.
According to police, the dead body was taken to Dharan for postmortem. Detainee Baniya is currently under custody after the district court added five days for investigation.
