KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Nepal's second-tier football league, Martyrs Memorial B Division League, featuring 14 teams will begin from Sunday at the APF Stadium in Halchowk, Kathmandu.
The tournament to be played in round-robin league will see top two teams earning promotion to A division for next season and the bottom two teams facing relegation.
According to a press release issued by ANFA, two matches will be played each day. The tournament will feature a total of 91 matches and will finish on October 4. Babsbari Club, Boys Union Club, Chyasal Youth Club, Khumaltar Youth Club, Madhyapur Youth Association, Mahabir Club, Nayabasti Youth Club, New Road Team, Pulchowk Sports Club, Ranipokhari Corner Team, Samajik Youth Club, Satdobato Youth Club, Shree Kumari Club and Tushal Youth Club.
Madhyapur Youth Association will lock horns with Khumaltar Youth Club in the opener at Halchowk while New Road Team (NRT) will face Samajik Youth Club in the late kick off at the same venue. Some matches of the league will be played at ANFA ground, Satdobato as well.
The participating teams are given Rs 400,000 as preparation fee. The winner and the runner-up will be awarded with purse of Rs 500,000 and Rs 250,000 respectively. The third and fourth place finishers will get Rs 150,000 and Rs75,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the best players in various positions - goalkeeping, defense, midfield and forward and best coach will be awarded Rs 25,000 each.
