KATHMANDU, Dec 20: A shipment of Vero Cell vaccines from China failed to land in Kathmandu today due to bad weather. The plane was forced to turn around and head back to mainland China after it could not land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) earlier on Monday.
According to Surendra Chaurasiya, Chief of Supply Management Branch of the Department of Health Services, the shipment is expected to arrive in Kathmandu on Tuesday after it could not land at TIA on Monday. As many as 1.2 million doses of vaccines were bound for the capital under the support of Asian Development Bank from China.
5-member team to probe into plane hold
Similarly, another shipment of 1.8 million doses of vaccines are set to arrive today from India as well. The vaccines are received under the support of COVAX facility and are set to arrive in Nepal by 2:35 PM on Monday.
Nepal has received 30.5 million vaccines so far. Of them, 20.1 million vaccines have already been administered to people of different ages.
