Kaligandaki Corridor road blocked by landslides
There has been a problem in traveling to the wards from Kushmisera, the center of Jaimini Municipality, and also from Butwal to Baglungl, due to the road blockage. Local residents complained that the road department has not shown any interest in opening the blocked road. According to the locals, despite operating the road by clearing the landslide debris, the landslides are causing problems again and again.
Similarly, locals have been suffering due to untimely construction of a bridge at Chaurikhola connecting Jamini Municipality-7 Jaidi and Ward No 8 Chisti. According to a local official, the bailey bridge in the river, which is part of Kaligandaki corridor has been removed and it has become difficult to cross the river on foot as the construction of another bridge has not been completed.
Resuming the traffic hasn’t been possible on that section of the corridor. The road leading to Butwal through the corridor has been blocked due to heavy rains as well.
