KATHMANDU, Nov 10: The cleanup campaigns of Kathmandu Valley's rivers and ring road continued even during the festivals. On Saturday, eight metric tonnes of waste materials were collected from the rivers and ring road, and was managed, the clean up campaigners shared. The Bagmati River near Guheshwori Temple was cleaned up on the 287th week of the Bagmati Cleanup Mega Campaign. Around 700 people including the representatives of the High Powered Bagmati Integrated Development Committee, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), and personnel of Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal and others were present in the campaign.
The area near Guheshwori Temple was cleaned up keeping the upcoming Chhath festival in mind, it is said. Likewise, Bagmati Sundarti Sarokar Manch, Tilganga Mahila Samuha and Aloknagar Cleanup Campaign also joined in the cleanup campaign in Guheshwori.
Similarly, cleanup campaign near Shreeram Chandra Temple at Battisputali along the Ratopul-Setopul section of Rudramati River was held. Around 150 campaigners collected and managed more than one metric tonnes of garbage from the site, it is said.
On the occasion, Chairman of KMC Ward No. 30 Dal Bahadur Karki and other local residents also participated in the cleanup campaign. Furthermore, Deputy Chief of Kathmandu District Coordination Committee Sarita Dahal and other campaigners attended the Manohara cleanup campaign and managed one metric tonnes of wastes.
Likewise, the campaigners gathered in the Naya Bus Park area and managed garbage from ring road as part of the ring road cleanup campaign which entered its 83rd week.
Similarly, two metric tonnes of waste was managed from Bafal area of ring road where more than 200 campaigners were present, according to campaigner Tara Bahadur Kunwar. RSS
