Bagmati Govt mandates tri-lingual signboards in offices

KATHMANDU, April 24: The government offices in Bagmati Province are now mandated to display signboards in three languages.


A meeting of the Provincial Council of Ministers held on Wednesday decided that government offices should have signboards in Nepal Bhasa (Newari language), Tamang and Nepali languages.

Ganga Narayan Shrestha, the spokesperson for the Bagmati Province government and Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, stated that the official launch of this language policy will come into effect on May 6.


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate this initiative from Basantpur in Kathmandu, leading to a public holiday on May 6.


Starting from May 6, government offices across Bagmati Province must display signboards in Nepali, Tamang and Nepal Bhasa as part of this language policy.
