According to Krishna Bahadur Bagoti, chief of Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, a survey concluded that drinking water projects were heavily damaged in Shivanath Rural Municipality, Sigas Rural Municipality and Dogdakedar Rural Municipality. “Over 50 drinking water projects have been damaged by the recent natural disasters, the report says,” he said.

Local residents of the district have also expressed concerns over lack of drinking water due to the damage caused to water projects. “Some of the locals are forced to drink contaminated water due to the scarcity,” Padam Saud, a local teacher said.

Furthermore, health workers have warned the local residents not to drink contaminated water as it may increase the risk of waterborne diseases.
