KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The sequence of earthquakes and aftershocks has not stopped yet with the epicenter at various places in Bajhang of Sudurpaschim Province.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, Lainchaur, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale occurred at 2:40 PM on Tuesday with its epicenter at Talkot in Bajhang. Director General of the Department of Mines and Geology Ram Prasad Ghimire said that 11 aftershocks of more than 4 magnitude on the Richter scale have occurred since Tuesday till this morning in different places of Bajhang.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, for the second time, at 3:06 AM, an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 hit Chainpur, the district headquarters of Bajhang, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 hit Chainpur at 3:13 AM., and an earthquake of 4.1 hit with its epicenter Surma at 3:45 PM.

Similarly, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 Richter scale occurred at Talkot at 4:28 PM, Suweda at 4:31PM, Seli at 5:19PM and Damena at 5:38PM.
Similarly, at 12:16 AM last night an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred with the epicenter at Damena, at 12:50 AM with epicenter Talkot at 4.3AM and at 5:43AM today with epicenter at Chainpur at 4.3AM.
The Department’s geologist Dr Lok Bijay Adhikari said that Nepal is an earthquake prone area and earthquakes can occur at any time. "There have been no earthquakes in West Nepal for the past 500 years, and recently earthquakes have started happening in that area," he said.
Earlier last October, an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred with Doti as its epicenter. He warned that there will be aftershocks in the far western region for a few more days and asked everyone to be alert.
