KATHMANDU, March 9: Prasanna Bajracharya's photo has bagged the #PhotoNepal (Winter) Theme contest.

Bajracharya's photo won the title ahead of 509 photos submitted by 230 photographers from across the country in the contest organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in association with Photo Journalists (PJ) Club.

Bikram Magar's photo secured second position while Pramin Manandhar was adjudged third in the #PhotoNepal contest organized for the first time in the country.
Along with the title, the winner got 3 days two nights all expenses paid trip to Suklaphanta and a cash prize of Rs 5000. NTB awarded the first runner up with a tour package of 3 days and two nights to Lumbini along with the cash prize of Rs 5000. Likewise, Pramin, who stood third in the contest, got 3 days two nights tour package to Chitwan and cash prize of Rs 5000.

Among the 509 photos registered in the contest, 50 best photos from prejudging round of #PhotoNepal have been put on display. Three best photos were selected through the
final judging round. The contest on the theme of #Winter includes photos depicting various aspects of the winter season and daily life.
NTB in association with PJ Club has been organizing the #PhotoNepal contest every month since 2016 February with the aim of promoting tourism in the country.
NTB says #PhotoNepal contest has been successful in promoting Nepal's natural beauty, cultural diversity, wildlife, flora and fauna among other aspects of daily life. NTB further says #PhotoNepal contest has also been successful in encouraging non-governmental agencies, amateur photographers and people at large to promote tourism.
PJ Club president Bikash Karki said, " The #PhotoNepal contest organized on the first Friday of every English month has been successful in attracting common people and amateur photographers in the campaign. We have felt that the trend of capturing and publishing photos depicting natural beauty, wildlife among others have increased since we started the #PhotoNepal contest. We developed the concept of contest in the #PhotoNepal exhibition to encourage more and more people to contribute to the national economy by being involved in tourism activities."
NTB CEO Dipak Raj Joshi said, "We expanded the #PhotoNepal exhibition to a contest as well considering its popularity. The #PhotoNepal contest is not just limited within the country. We welcome photos of Nepal taken by any national from around the world. We also aim at organizing discussions, and promote domestic tourism through photography. I would like to thank all participating photographers and PJ Club for coordinating the program."
