KATHMANDU, Nov 15: The Balagopaleshwar temple on Ranipokhari, which is open only one day a year, will be accessible from early morning until evening today, as announced by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
People without brothers and sisters traditionally worship at the Balagopaleshwar temple and apply tika. The Kathmandu Metropolis is overseeing the worship and tika reception at the Balgopaleshwar temple. The KMC has specified that the temple, exclusively open on Bhai Tika day annually, will remain open throughout the day.
Ranipokhari not to open for Bhai Tika this year
SP Rajunath Pandey, the head of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Police, stated that devotees can engage in worship at the temple from morning until evening.
Following the earthquake on April 25, 2015, the temple remained closed for several years, starting from Tihar of that year. However, after the reconstruction of the earthquake-damaged temple, it has now reopened for devotees.
As part of the celebrations, there is a program featuring Anjali Didi giving tika in Kastamandap for those without siblings, as informed by KMC Ward no. 20 Chairman Rajendra Manandhar. This year, Anjali Didi has initiated a special program to commemorate the silver jubilee of her providing tika to individuals without siblings.
