According to EC Spokesperson Saligram Sharma Poudel, the commission has tried to use different colors of ballot papers for the upcoming elections as the blue ballot paper used in the 2017 election and the ink used in the stamp are both blue.

The EC justified its actions on selecting green ballot papers after the CPN-UML Chairman accused the Nepali Congress of trying to manipulate the voters in the election by using the color green for the ballot papers.
