Bam Dev Gautam to support CPN-UML (Socialist)

KATHMANDU, August 20: CPN-UML Vice-chairperson Bam Dev Gautam has decided to join the CPN-UML (Socialist), a splinter group of the CPN-UML. In a virtual meeting held on Thursday, Gautam who had been operating the national campaign for the party’s unity, announced to support and move forward with the CPN-UML (Socialist) and continue his unity campaign there.

KATHMANDU, August 20: CPN-UML Vice-chairperson Bam Dev Gautam has decided to join the CPN-UML (Socialist), a splinter group of the CPN-UML. In a virtual meeting held on Thursday, Gautam who had been operating the national campaign for the party’s unity, announced to support and move forward with the CPN-UML (Socialist) and continue his unity campaign there. 


Baburam Thapa, secretary for the unity campaign said that Gautam was emphasizing a greater communist unity and will support the Nepal-led Socialist party. He said that discussions will be held with CPN-UML (Socialist) to strengthen the unity. For that, Gautam has made coordinator Hari Parajuli and Secretary Thapa in-charge of necessary work.

Gautam has come to the conclusion to continue his initiative for a greater communist party, stating that there is a problem in unity due to the working style of CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli. He said that there is nothing he can do for the party by supporting KP Oli. 


Gautam had started the unity campaign after the CPN-UML dispute escalated. Furthermore, Gautam had formed the CPM (ML) and became its general secretary after breaking away from CPN-UML in 1997.
