Strikes are now prohibited in critical sectors such as insurance, banks, and electricity.

The government officially announced this restriction through a notice published in the Nepal Gazette, along with a detailed list of areas where strikes are not allowed.


Utilizing the authority mentioned by Section 3 (1) of the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014, the Ministry of Home Affairs has implemented a ban on strikes across 25 different essential services.
