KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and left the country, according to media reports. This comes amid escalating violence that has resulted in the deaths of around 100 people, including at least 14 police officers, in Dhaka.

Hasina left the Dhaka Palace with her sister and has sought refuge elsewhere following ongoing protests demanding her resignation. The unrest initially started with students protesting against a government job quota system.
