Rana, a former mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City, reported to the House that Nepalgunj has suffered communal tensions and it, as he argued, was due to the misuse of mobile phones. He called for action against those responsible for instigating the situation and urged the residents of Nepalgunj to maintain peace, security, and social harmony while exercising patience during this unusual situation.

It may be noted that the Banke District Administration Office has issued a curfew order for an indefinite period in the town from 1:00 pm today following religious unrest reportedly emerged from a status on social sites that targeted the Muslim community.

As Banke's Chief District Officer Bipin Acharya said, a curfew was enforced bearing in mind the potential risk of vandalisation of public property and a security threat to the public.
