Barred from disposing of waste in Banchare Danda, garbage trucks return to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, June 8: The garbage trucks that had reached Banchare Danda to dispose of the Kathmandu Valley’s waste have returned without doing so.

KATHMANDU, June 8: The garbage trucks that had reached Banchare Danda to dispose of the Kathmandu Valley’s waste have returned without doing so. 


Although police were mobilized to allow the garbage trucks to dump the waste at the new landfill, the locals obstructed the process and threatened to vandalize the trucks if they dumped the garbage there.

The locals have said that they will not allow any waste to be dumped at Banchare Danda. In the capital, heaps of garbage have been piling up for the past two weeks which has directly affected the general public. 


Although an agreement was reached among the representatives of the affected area, Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri, Mayor Balen Shah among others on Monday night to allow garbage dumping under various conditions, the locals have not allowed the garbage to be dumped.
