CHITWAN, Feb 10: A three-kilometer-long fence is set to be constructed in four wards of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in the district to alleviate potential human-wildlife conflicts.
This initiative comes in response to the district reporting numerous instances of human-wildlife conflicts caused by animals entering human settlements from Chitwan National Park and the forests in the buffer zone areas.
The fencing is expected to significantly reduce these conflicts. The fencing project will commence in wards no. 23, 24, 27, and 28 of the metropolis. Mayor Renu Dahal of Bharatpur Metropolitan City inaugurated the construction bid.

The estimated cost of the fencing is around Rs 40 million. Mayor Dahal mentioned that a new bidding process would be initiated after promptly surveying the missing site.
Each year, substantial property damage and human casualties occur due to tiger, rhino, and wild boar attacks in the human settlements of western Chitwan.
