KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Bhawan Bhatta, incumbent vice-president of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has announced his candidacy for the post of NRNA president for the association’s upcoming 2017-2019 tenure.
Addressing a press meet in Kathmandu on Saturday, Bhatta announced his vision for the association’s leadership.

His plans include implementation of foreign employment emergency fund for insurance of Nepalis living abroad and establishment of startup fund for women empowerment and new investors.
Bhatta committed to continue present leadership’s post-earthquake rebuilding project at Laprak, construction of NRNA building, vision 20-20 and beyond, along with the group investments.
Likewise, he said that the National Coordination Councils (NCC’s) based in different countries will come up with programs to increase the participation of women and youth in social entrepreneurship. The NRNA has 77 NCC’s across the world.
Bhatta also stated that his contributions will be toward bringing group investments of non-resident Nepalis as well as toward expanding the Foreign Employment Fund. Currently, NRNA has Rs 25 million in Foreign Employment Fund.
Bhatta, a Japan-based non-resident Nepali, has investments in Nepal through his TBI group of companies. He operates several restaurants and resorts in Japan. He also has investments in the hospitality industry in Europe.
