DADELDHURA, Dec 25: Vehicular movement along the Bhimdhutta Panta Highway has been disrupted since Wednesday afternoon.
Following the death of a person in an accident on Tuesday afternoon, the locals and relatives are blocking the highway demanding proper compensation to the victim's family. Bharat Bohora, 20, of Amargadhi municipality-11, Sallaghari died when a bike (Se 4 Pa 5880) was struck by a passenger bus (Na 7 Kha 6522) en route to Bajhang from Mahendranagar at Amargadhi-1, Chalis Mode. Similarly, bike rider Mahendra Thagunna, 19, sustained severe injuries during the accident.
Monsoon arrives with landslides in the highway
The dead body of the deceased has been kept at the hospital. However, the postmortem has not been performed yet due to delay in providing compensation to the victims' families.
Transportation in the seven hilly districts of the province has got affected and thousands of passengers have been left stranded along the highway due to the road obstruction.
The locals have blocked the highway burning tyres at Amargadhi-1, Syaule bazaar and Amargadhi-10, Raisadak.
“The kins of the dead said that they wanted to deal directly with the chairperson of Mahakali Transport, the transportation company. However, Dadeldhura In-charge of the transport took initiation in compensating the family of the dead and paying for the treatment of injured one,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dadhiram Neupane.
Police took control of the bus driver and bus owner on Tuesday and kept under custody.
