KATHMANDU, April 1: Leader of Bibeksheel Nepali Dal and Bagmati Province Assembly member Ramesh Paudyal has filed a case against the Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
According to MP Paudyal, he sought the CIAA probe into the alleged irregularities in the medical equipment procurement. Similarly, he claimed the minister’s alleged involvement in the irregularities since Dhakal [minister] argued that he should not answer to the questions raised regarding this issue.
Moreover, Nepal has purchased rapid testing kits worth Rs 70 million although they have yet to be certified by WHO, according to Poudyal.

MP Poudyal filed the complaint against Minister Dhakal through the CIAA’s website. After submitting the online complaint, he also contacted the CIAA spokesperson and confirmed.
Here are some of the major accusations against Minister Dhakal:
.Cancellation of the tender announced by the Ministry three months ago
.The price of medical items were four times higher than the market price
-Businessmen close to the minister were awarded procurement tender overnight
-The company which even did not have the experience of medical supplies was awarded the tender in just three hours' time frame
-The company has not been even registered at the Department of Commerce
In his case, the provincial assembly member urged the CIAA to launch a thorough investigation on the issue
