KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Top leaders of the three major political parties have held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar in a bid to seek solution to the current political stalemate.

In the two-and-half-hours-long meeting held this morning, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba   discussed constitution amendment bill, elections of local bodies, impeachment and restructuring commission.

“In the meeting, we have agreed to resolve all the issues in a package. The meeting ended on a positive note,” NC President Deuba said after the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, UML Chairman Oli urged the leaders to immediately withdraw the constitution amendment bill registered in Parliament and bring election-related bills to pave the way for holding elections.

The government must make all the election-related laws ready at least four months ahead of the election.

The meeting was convened at a time when the political parties are sharply divided over the constitution amendment bill registered in Parliament on November 29.

Earlier, despite efforts Speaker Onsari Garti had made to forge agreement among the political parties so as to run the Parliamentary businesses, she had not been successful.
