Bijay Kumar Jalan will be remembered for his contribution to internet service promotion in Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 15: Bijay Kumar Jalan, director of WorldLink Communications Pvt Ltd (WCPL), one of the pioneer organizations to offer internet service in the country, succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, May 15: Bijay Kumar Jalan, director of WorldLink Communications Pvt Ltd (WCPL), one of the pioneer organizations to offer internet service in the country, succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday.


One of the founders of WCPL, Jalan has aided with a notable contribution to the promotion of the internet service across the country. Jalan was senior advisor and executive committee member of the Internet Service Providers’ Association of Nepal.

Starting its service over two decades ago, WCPL upgraded its service to an optic fiber-based bandwidth system in 2008 under value guidance of Jalan. The company now provides its services to more than 400,000 customers.


Jalan was also associated with a number of charity organizations working for humanity. Jalan, at 47, breathed his last at Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur.
