KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Bird flu has been detected at two locations across the country, according to the Department of Livestock Services (DoLS).
The DoLS said avian influenza (H5N1) was detected in samples taken from Baluwakhani of Gokerneshwar Municipality-3, Kathmandu and Rapti Municipality-6 of Chitwan. According to the department, 20 local chickens, five pigeons and three domestic guinea fowls infected with the disease have been killed in Baluwakhani.

Similarly, the department destroyed 1,913 units of chicken, 14 ducks, 20 units of duck eggs, 1,000 kg of fodder and 350 crates of chicken eggs in Chitwan. Issuing a press release, the DoLS has urged the concerned to adopt safety measures to prevent spread of the avian disease.
