As the number of Chhath celebrants continues to grow each year, local markets are bustling with shoppers purchasing essential items for the festival. However, residents have noted a significant increase in the prices of essential goods compared to previous years.

This year, the formal observation of Shashti, which marks the sixth day of the lunar fortnight in the Hindu calendar, is scheduled for November 19. While the main rituals of Chhath begin three days in advance, the enthusiasm and preparations in Birgunj are evident, with the beautification of ponds adding to the festive spirit."
