Bivalent vaccines arrive in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Pfizer's new bivalent vaccines have arrived in Nepal. As many as 345,000 doses of the vaccine have entered Nepal. Surendra Chaurasiya, head of the Supply Branch of the Department of Health Services, said that the vaccines were delivered at 9AM on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Pfizer's new bivalent vaccines have arrived in Nepal. As many as 345,000 doses of the vaccine have entered Nepal. Surendra Chaurasiya, head of the Supply Branch of the Department of Health Services, said that the vaccines were delivered at 9AM on Monday.


He said that the vaccines received through Gavi will be stored at the department at Teku. Bivalent vaccine introduced for the first time in Nepal is used as a booster dose. This vaccine is considered effective against the sub variants of Omicron.

Under the COVAX facility, a total of 1.5 million doses of bivalent vaccines will be provided in four phases and accordingly, 345,000 doses of the vaccine have arrived today.
