BIRATNAGAR, Feb 29: A meeting with the stakeholders held in Biratnagar on Wednesday in coordination with the Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC) has decided to extend the operating hours for hotels in Biratnagar until midnight.
Mayor of Biratnagar, Nagesh Koirala, announced that hotels are permitted to operate till midnight, with other businesses allowed to operate until 10 PM, in order to sustain economic activities in Biratnagar. Businessmen have urged the Biratnagar metropolis time and again to facilitate night-time business operations.

To address the concerns raised by businessmen, the BMC collaborated with the Chief District Officer, Chief of Police, Chief of Armed Police Force, FNCCI Koshi Province, Morang Industry Association, Birat Trade Association, Hotel Association Nepal, and consumer related organizations, holding a stakeholder meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided to recommend to the District Security Committee to establish additional guidelines including security measures required for conducting businesses at night. The District Security Committee is set to develop guidelines including safety standards to be adopted while operating hotels and other businesses. According to Mayor Koirala, businessmen must follow these guidelines while conducting night-time business activities.
Responding to the grievances expressed by the businessmen, the BMC held a meeting with stakeholders and approved the operation of businesses during night time. Deputy Mayor Shilpa Nirala Karki, Chief District Officer of Morang Prem Prasad Bhattarai clarified that the local administration is always supportive to promote local businesses.
