KATHMANDU, May 9: The Bibeksheel Nepali Party (BNP) has drawn the attention of the Nepal government to the construction and inauguration of a link road passing through Lipulekh, a Nepali territory, by India.

The Indian government on Friday inaugurated the link road connecting Dharchula of India to Mansarovar in China’s Tibet via the Nepali territory.

Issuing a press statement on Saturday, the party has strongly opposed the move by the Indian government. BNP has also said that the development was a result of weak diplomacy by the present government.

The Indian and Chinese governments had decided to develop the Lipulekh area into a trade route back in 2015. The Nepal government has objected to the decision time and again.

BNP has urged the Nepal government to take an immediate and effective diplomatic move to settle the territorial disputes with India and China “before it gets too late”.
