Boat swept away by Lalbakaiya River; 15 come in contact (Update)

RAUTAHAT, Aug 25: As many as 35 people have gone missing after a boat with 40 people onboard has been swept away by the swollen Lalbakaiya River in the district.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 25: A boat with 40 people onboard has been swept away by the swollen Lalbakaiya River in the district.


According to Chief District Officer Govinda Rijal, 15 people have come in contact with police while the 22 rest have gone missing.

A rescue team comprising security personnel representing Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army has been deployed in the incident site, informed CDO Rijal.


The incident took place after a boat heading to the district headquarters Gaur from Banjarah was swept away by the flooded Lalbakaiya River at 7 pm today.
