DARCHULA, June 16: The suspension bridge that links Nepal to India in Darchula is to be closed for four days for maintenance. The bridge will be out of service from June 16 to 19, according to Chief District Officer Shanker Bahadur Bista.
Muglin road to shut from tomorrow
The Indian side had informed the Darchula district administration about the maintenance of the bridge. The condition of the bridge in Khalanga was deteriorating and was awaiting repairs.
Constructed in 1971 by the Indian side, this bridge is repaired in every three years. It serves as a lifeline, especially for Nepalese dependent on the nearby Indian market for daily essentials. Hence, closing down of the bridge will be a problem for them.
