KATHMANDU, April 29: The Election Commission on Saturday has drawn the attention of the government stating that bringing an annual policy, program and budget in-between the local poll will be against the election code of conduct.
A meeting held under the chairmanship of the chief election commissioner Dr. Ayodhee Prasad Yadav decided that bringing the budget in-between the election will not be in line with code of conduct.

The commission spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said that bringing the budget in between the election could affect the election, therefore, EC has decided to express its concern to the government.
The Commission has concluded that the government's motive to bring the new budget before the two phases of local level elections (on May 14 and June 14) would violate the election code of conduct that was enforced from March 2 and would continue until the June polls are organised.
The main opposition has decried the preparations by the government to bring the budget as per the provision of the new constitution that says the budget would be presented on May 29.
The opposition political parties have been drawing the attention of the Commission to halt the preparations to bring the budget and government's policies and programmes, saying the government's move to do so would go against the election code of conduct. RSS
