BSPN to hold party's 1st general convention next year

KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Terming the party’s split as “an unexpected and unfortunate,” Bibeksheel Sajha Party  Nepal (BSPN) has decided to hold the party’s first general convention in 2020. 


A central committee meeting (CC) held in Bakhundole on Tuesday conducted a preliminary review on the latest debacle of the party and made nine various decisions to break the confusion left behind after Ujjwal Thapa, then coordinator and 15 other CC members filed an application to register a new party Bibeksheel Nepali Party last week. 


The party said the party will launch pressure programs to implement the verdict of the Supreme Court to allow all the Nepali migrant workers across the globe to cast their votes in the elections.

The party has also made several appointments. As per the decison,  Anil Bhetwal has been appointed as the coordinator of the Province 1.


Likewise, Shailu Shrestha has been picked as the CC member from Far Western Province, Swaraswati Panthi Bhusal from Province 5, and Sushila KC Adhikari from Gandaki Province as per the party’s earlier decision to pick a woman from each province on the recommendation of the provincial committees.


The meeting also decided to form women’s association to promote participation of youths and women in the party, hold a conclave of representatives on January 26 and discussion program titled ‘Bibeksheel Sajha: A Way Ahead’ on January 27.


The meeting also has restructured its central departments and has assigned responsibilities accordingly.


According to the decision, Dr Umed Pun has been entrausted with fundraising responsibilities, organization (Mumaram Khanal), campaign (Kishor Thapa), policy and programs (Dr Surya Raj Acharya), training (Keshav Dahal), communication (Kiran Shrestha), social justice and inclusion (Prakash Chandra Pariyar), law (Niruta Yadav), foreign (Rabindra Mishra), etc.


The party has also decided to launch a special Madhes Mission starting February 4 to encourage Madhesi people’s participation in the country's transformation.
