KATHMANDU, May 12: Lawmakers of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have expressed the belief that the government would bring the budget for coming fiscal year with the goal of economic growth along with social justice. Whereas, the lawmakers of the Nepali Congress criticized that the government has been making preparation to bring the budget, which would be difficult in implementation.
Taking part in discussion over principle and priority of appropriation bill (except tax proposal) for the fiscal year 2019/20 in today's meeting of the House of representatives, some lawmakers of ruling parties expressed their support with criticism while lawmakers of opposition parties complained that the government boycotted the positive activities started in past. On the occasion, Chief Whip of NCP, Dev Prasad Gurung, urged the government to prepare budget of coming fiscal year addressing the families of martyrs, injured and disappeared during conflict period as well as concluding the remaining works of peace process.

He also urged the Finance Minister to pay attention on development of socialism-oriented economy, the state should play leading role by taking private sector as its supporter. Similarly, Debendra Poudel of NCP stressed that the budget should give priority making the stride of the journey of development and prosperity as the country is in the campaign of economic revolution. The budget should forward the agriculture, tourism, energy and physical infrastructure sectors ahead by identifying the qualitative resources for economic prosperity, he added.
Rajendra Prasad Gautam, Chhakka Bahadur Lama and Juli Kumari Mahato of the NCP said that the budget should be brought in order to make the country's economy strong as well as amendment to Public Procurement Act to make development construction activities effective. Likewise, Dilendra Prasad Badu of the Nepali Congress said that the budget should give priority to transport, energy, agro and tourism development and the development expenditure should be balanced. Another NC lawmaker Bahadur Singh Tamang urged all not to expect much from the budget, saying the government brought the policies and programmes beyond the reality.
Other NC lawmakers-- Hrisdayesh Tripathi, Sujata Koirala, Renuka Gurung, Amaresh Kumar Singh, Amrita Devi Agrahari, Raj Bahadur Budha, among others stressed that the upcoming budget should be brought, which should address people's aspirations. The HoR will meet next at 11:00 am on Monday.
