Butwal-Lumbini transmission line and substation inaugurated

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The 132 kV double circuit transmission line from Yogikuti (Butwal) to Mainahiya, built for reliable and quality power supply, increase transmission capacity and control technical leakage in the Bhairahawa area of ​​Rupandehi, has been inaugurated.


Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal inaugurated the Butwal-Lumbini double circuit transmission line and the Mainahiya substation under it, which was constructed with the investment of the government and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). “With the construction of transmission lines and substations, the infrastructure capable of supplying about 200 megawatts of electricity has been prepared in the Bhairahawa area. Also, the power supply in the Bhairahawa area has improved,” NEA stated.

Minister Bhusal said, “We are working with the goal of building a self-sufficient economy by selling the surplus electricity in the international market. We are working to bring electricity to the places where electricity has not reached within two years and to build infrastructures as well for quality and reliable electricity supply. Along with this, large water projects such as Budhi Gandaki will be built," she said. "We need to replace LP gas used for cooking, provide as much electricity as required to industries, use electric vehicles for transportation, use electricity for irrigation to increase agricultural productivity and make the economy self-sufficient and move forward toward prosperity."


Kulman Ghising, managing director of NEA, said that the power supply of Butwal, Bhairahawa area through the transmission line has improved and the industries can be supplied with as much power as required. Mentioning that there was a problem in the past when only the Butwal substation was supplying electricity, he said that now this area has become an electricity hub and the distribution system has improved.


The construction of the 18 km Butwal-Lumbini transmission line from the Butwal substation to the Mainahiya substation has been completed and put into operation. Project Head Hari Pandey said that the 132/33/11 kV Mainahiya Substation was brought into operation and power was supplied to that area.
