By-elections: Final list of candidates, awarding of election symbols today

KATHMANDU, April 7: Today, the final list of candidates for the by-elections to be held on April 23 is being published and election symbols are being awarded.

KATHMANDU, April 7: Today, the final list of candidates for the by-elections to be held on April 23 is being published and election symbols are being awarded.


According to the Election Commission (EC), the time has been fixed for those interested in withdrawing their nominations from 9AM to 1PM. After that, the final list of candidates will be published. The commission said that after the publication of the final list of candidates, the election symbols will be given today.

Today, after the candidates get the election symbol, the by-election will be officially started. And the election is scheduled from 7AM to 5PM on April 23, 2023.


Nominations were registered last Monday for the by-elections for the members of the House of Representatives to be held in Tanahun-1, Bara-2 and Chitwan-2 on April 23, 2023.


In the election of last November 20, Ramchandra Poudel who was elected from Tanahun-1 was elected President and Ramsahay Prasad Yadav who was elected from Bara-2 was elected as Vice President. Similarly, Rabi Lamichhane who was elected from Chitwan-2 was dismissed from the post of MP by the Supreme Court due to his conviction in the citizenship dispute.
