Cabinet being expanded, ministers to be sworn in at 3PM today

POKHARA, May 19: Chief minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung is expanding his council of ministers on Wednesday.


Gurung was re-appointed as the CM a week ago.

The province is also preparing to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at 3PM Wednesday.


Earlier on May 9, CM Gurung had resigned from his post after the main opposition party, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) filed a no-confidence motion against him. Later on May 12, Gurung was re-appointed as the CM in his capacity as the leader of the largest party in the Province Assembly.


Gurung is expected to induct no new faces in the cabinet.


According to Bikram Neupane, press advisor to CM Gurung, Kiran Gurung will be appointed as the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Ramsharan Basnet as the Minister for Physical Development, Bikash Lamsal as the Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Naradevi Pun as the Minister for Social Development and Rajiv Gurung as the Minister for Youths and Sport.
