KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The government has decided to accept Rs 16.37 billion loan assistance provided by the World Bank for strengthening the social security and vital events registration program.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar on Thursday decided to appoint Suresh Kumar Karki to the vacant post of Executive Director of Radio Nepal, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki, also the government spokesman, said after the meeting. Karki was in the same post before this also.
The meeting decided to form the National Farmers Commission as well as approved the work procedure regarding distribution of grants which was prepared for reconstruction of private houses for the flood-affected people in Banke, Bardia, Dang, Surkhet and Sindhupalchok. Many people were displaced due to the floods occurred in these districts two years back.
The government has also constituted a committee under the coordination of the Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications for making recommendations for appointment to the two posts of member on the Nepal Telecom Authority which have fallen vacant. Joint Secretary of the Administration Division at the Ministry and expert Dr Bhesh Raj Kandel are the members of the committee.
Similarly, the meeting of the Council of Ministers has promoted Lieutenant Colonel (technical) Khum Bahadur Kunwar to Colonel (technical) and appointed joint attorney Kiran Poudel who has been promoted to secretary post to the post of Deputy Attorney.
The government has appointed Joint Registrar of the Supreme Court Nakul Subedi to the post of Secretary at the Judicial Council and Joint Registrar Nripadhoj Niraula to the post of Registrar of the Supreme Court.
Likewise, joint registrar Rajib Gautam has been promoted to the post of Secretary at the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. In like manner, joint attorney Rajan Prasad Bhattarai has been promoted to the post of Secretary at the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons.
The government has formed a committee led by Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Shreepaili for cremating the mortal remains of Ajit Mijar and Laxmi Pariyar who were murdered in cold blood in Kavrepalanchok some days back, to provide assistance to their families and to take the two cases to the court. The bodies of Mijar and Pariyar are at the TU Teaching Hospital. RSS
