Election on hold as Cabinet meet makes no headway (with video)

 KATHMANDU, Feb 20: A Cabinet meeting called for announcing the dater for local elections has ended inconclusively on Monday.


The meeting held in Singha Durbar focused on the reports of the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) rather than announcing the election date.

The meeting decided to extend the term of the taskforce led by Minister for Local Development Hitraj Pandey. The taskforce will study the report of the SRC and submit the final proposal to the government within a week.


On the other hand, the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) is not happy with the report.


The constitution amendment process will be taken forward in the House meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, told Republica Online.
