KATHMANDU, Jan 10: A coalition of parties is going to submit their claim to form the government in Lumbini Province today. The parties are going to submit their claim one day before the deadline given by the province chief for the formation of a government.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan had given time till 4 o'clock on January 11 for government formation. As per a power-sharing deal, it has been agreed that CPN-UML will get the post of Chief Minister in Lumbini. In Lumbini, UML parliamentary party leader and former minister Leela Giri is likely to become the chief minister.

On Monday in Deukhuri, Dang, UML parliamentary party leader Giri and the leaders of the ruling party alliance agreed to submit their claim for the formation of the government at 4 o'clock on Tuesday.

In Lumbini Province, there are 29 members of UML, 10 members of CPN (Maoist Centre), four members of RPP, and three each of JSP and Janamat. A member needs the support of 44 other members to secure a majority in the 87-member provincial assembly. Four members are elected from Nagarik Unmukti and two from independent. There are 27 members of the Nepali Congress, three members of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and nine members of CPN (Unified Socialist) and one member of Rastriya Janamorcha.
