Issuing a press release, the secretary of the executive committee, Hari Bhattarai has warned that there may be activities which may go against the independence and competence of the judiciary. He also stated that the appointment of other officials at courts is as important as the appointment of judges.

Stating that efforts were made to draft a separate law for the appointment of judicial staffers a few years ago, the press release sought to implement the voice being raised by the official trade union for a long time.

The press release stated that Article 161 of the constitution requires a separate law for the service for government lawyers while Article 155 requires a separate law for the judicial staffers. Stating that a draft of the legislation has already been forwarded to the Ministry of Law but it has not been finalized yet, the official trade union executive committee of Supreme Court demanded early endorsement of the law.

Stating that there is a rumor about the appointment of the chief registrar of the Supreme Court from outside the judicial service, the committee also warned the Supreme Court leadership and officials of the Judicial Service Commission not to bring anyone from outside the service. It has also warned to launch intense protests against the responsible authorities if they do not heed their demand.
