Stakeholders call for rebuilding Mangalsen Palace

ACHHAM, Jan 3: Stakeholders have drawn the attention of the government demanding the speedy completion of the reconstruction of the Mangalsen Palace of Achham. The palace was damaged during the armed conflict.

ACHHAM, Jan 3: Stakeholders have drawn the attention of the government demanding the speedy completion of the reconstruction of the Mangalsen Palace of Achham. The palace was damaged during the armed conflict.


Submitting a memorandum through Chief District Officer Sharad Kumar Pokharel, the stakeholders drew the attention of the government to complete the re-construction of the palace, which remained stalled for years. 


A team of people's representatives, political parties, employees, industrialists, media persons and others led by Mangalsen Mayor Padam Bahadur Bohra submitted the memorandum with the signatures of 515 people.

Stakeholders here complain that even after 15 years have passed since the reconstruction of Mangalsen Palace was started, the job is still incomplete. 


On the occasion, Chief District Officer Pokharel said that he is committed to the efforts on his part and added that he will immediately send the memo to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers through the Ministry of Home Affairs.


The construction of the palace is said to have started during the reign of the then King Tikabhuk Shah of Mangalsen and completed in 1935 BS during the reign of his son Dal Bahadur Shah.  The three-storey palace had 30 rooms.
