JAJARKOT, Oct 30: Candidates contesting in the upcoming federal and provincial elections are busy making strategies for their poll campaigns in order to draw attention of more number of voters.
This time, a tough competition has been expected between the alliances forged between various political parties. The recently announced left alliance between CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist-Center) as well as the 'democratic' alliance of Nepali Congress (NC) with other parties have created quite a stir in politics. It has been quite challenging for the locals to predict the winner due to the tough competition among the candidates.
Candidates busy making strategies to woo voters
As most of the parties have picked heavyweight candidates, this has made the competition even tougher. So, in order to beat their rivals, candidates have intensified their meetings with the leaders and cadres and have started discussing the strategies which can help them attract number of voters. They have also been found taking suggestions from the locals regarding the development plans. By raising issues of employment, development and good governance, candidates are seeking votes with the locals.
They are not just informing the people about the past achievements of their respective parties but are also making them aware of the future plans. NC candidates are found sharing stories of struggle that the party had to go through in order to free the citizens from autocratic regimes. They have been telling people that the NC has shouldered all the responsibilities entrusted by the citizens with full dedication. Bedraj Singh, NCs candidate for the provincial elections from constituency 1 informed that the party will work as per the demands of the locals.
Similarly, the candidates of the left alliance are found sharing stories of their struggle during insurgency and their crucial contribution for the promulgation of the constitution. CPN (Maoist-Center)'s Ganesh Prasad Singh, candidate picked by the left alliance, says the main purpose of forging alliance was to work for the development and welfare of the country and its citizens. While the candidates have been making various promises, locals have been requesting them not to play with their emotions by making fake promises and vows.
Candidates are also meeting the locals personally to convince them that they are the appropriate candidates for the election. According to Laxmi Khadka, a local of Bheri Municipality, locals have been urging the candidates to be genuine while unveiling their election manifestos.
