KATHMANDU, March 18: The Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) has recommended to the Council of Ministers to resume cross-border transportation between Nepal and India.

A meeting of the CCMC held at the Office of the Prime Minister's Office and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), Singha Durbar, took a decision to this effect on Thursday, according to Khaga Raj Baral, secretary at the CCMC.

"The CCMC meeting has decided to recommend to the cabinet to resume cross-border transportation between Nepal and India via various 12 routes," Baral told media persons while emerging from the meeting.

However, passengers travelling via land routes should adhere to coronavirus protocols and produce a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test report conducted 72 hours before their journey.

In March last year, the government decided to suspend cross-border movement between Nepal and India as part of its measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
