KATHMANDU, Jan 2$: The Netra Bikram Chand--led Nepal Communist Party has started threatening the local communities of Kailali to extort funds as per their demands. The locals of the community forests were forced to pay the money to the communist party after they threatened to take physical action.
The cadres of the party sent letters to committees of Bhajani, Ghodaghodi, and Pandaoun forest communities, asking for donations to the party. According to a source, “We were demanded Rs 200,000. They threatened to take action if we did not cope with their demands. We gave them the money through a cheque in the name of the party’s cadre.”

Similarly, the party cadres collected Rs 300,000 from Laxmi Community of Bhajani Municipality, Rs 200,000 from Saraswati Community, Rs 250,000 from Sayapatri Community of Bhajani-9, Rs 120,000 from Soniya Community, and Rs 50,000 from Ghodtal Community. Likewise, Rs 20,000 was collected from the Sadepani Community by the Biplav-led CPN cadres.
The locals have complained of being threatened multiple times in the past by Chand’s cadres who frequently demand donations. Meanwhile, Secretary Dipendra Chalaune of the Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal claims that the party has not asked for a large donation from anyone. "We have not demanded a large amount of donation from anywhere, so we will ask the community to return such a large amount of money if anyone asks for it, '' he said. "Some fake people may have done that to discredit the party. I am looking into the matter,” Chalaune said.
